Before Kate and Will were even engaged, we asked designers to submit sketches of wedding dress ideas for the future princess. Now that we've actually seen Kate's Alexander McQueen wedding gown, we had to look back and see which designer sketched the closest approximation of the final product. While all of the sketches featured elements of the royal wedding gown, we were amazed at how closely the sketch by the design team at Watters actually resembled Kate's dress. Same lace bodice, same v-neckline, same grand skirt, even a similar ruffle in the back. Well done, Watters team, we're very impressed with your design (and psychic) abilities. Yes, the world is abuzz about Kate Middleton's Alexander McQueen wedding gown and her sister Pippa's bridesmaid style, but here at the Brides.com offices, we're also chattering about the fabulous mother-of-the-bride ensemble that Carole Middleton sported. The Catherine Walker outfit featured a sky blue knee-length dress and coat, which was paired with a smart Jane Corbett hat. We loved this fresh take on the dressy suit, the ensemble's structure and long line, and especially the color, which was perfect for spring. We predict designers will certainly take note of this daytime dressy style, and selected a few options for moms hoping for a springtime dress in a similar hue. Along with her tiara, Kate wore a veil made of silk tulle and trimmed in hand-embroidered flowers, by Alexander McQueen. The veil was mid-length (not cathedral-length as one might have expected), and featured just a hint of lace trim, that complemented the bodice of her gown.
